ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)<\/strong>\u00a0refers to a particular group of symptoms or traits. Generally speaking, these fall into the categories of inattentiveness, impulsivity, and sometimes hyperactivity. ADHD traits begin in childhood and can continue into adulthood.<\/p>

Although the American Psychiatric Association coined the term, many people simply refer to themselves as \u201chaving\u201d ADHD or ADD when they have difficulty planning, organizing, and following through on projects. But these people can also be creative and focused when doing what they love.<\/p>

Those with ADHD traits have difficulties with what are called \u201cexecutive functions.\u201d Executive functions consist of mental skills that help the brain organize and act on information. These skills enable people to\u00a0plan, organize, remember things, prioritize, pay attention, and get started on tasks.
