{"id":1926,"date":"2015-01-26T16:27:51","date_gmt":"2015-01-26T21:27:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/juliannedavidow.com\/demonew\/?p=1926"},"modified":"2016-03-17T08:18:50","modified_gmt":"2016-03-17T12:18:50","slug":"making-habits-into-goals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juliannedavidow.com\/demonew\/blog\/2015\/01\/26\/making-habits-into-goals\/","title":{"rendered":"Making Habits into Goals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A  new year has just begun and, if you are like me, you want to set fresh goals, or reach the goals you set last year.<\/p>\n<p>When we set a goal, we usually feel enthusiastic. We may put it on the top of our &#8220;to do&#8221; list and have every intention of seeing it through to completion.<\/p>\n<p>But day after day our precious goal may remain on the list, while other things come up that prevent us from even making a dent in it.<\/p>\n<p>Or maybe we make a start and then let it slide.<\/p>\n<p>We usually frame our goals with words such as: \u201cI\u2019m going to finish that book,\u201c or \u201cI\u2019m going to get in shape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We may even be able to visualize the successful outcome of our goal.<\/p>\n<p>But research shows that it is in <strong>visualizing and implementing habits<\/strong> that we most effectively move closer to accomplishing goals.<\/p>\n<p>The question is, how can you make \u201cworking your goal\u201d a habit?<\/p>\n<p>Instead of making your goal: &#8220;To get in shape,\u201d try: \u201cI\u2019m going to exercise three times a week at six pm\u201d or \u201cI\u2019m going to work on that project five days a week at three pm for at least half an hour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Break the larger goal down into incremental steps, and hold yourself accountable only for accomplishing those steps.<\/p>\n<p>As I begin a new book on creativity, I&#8217;ve already begun using this method and am finding it is helping me move forward.<\/p>\n<p>What about you?
