Remember the movie “Field of Dreams”? In that film, Kevin Costner hears a voice telling him, “If you build it, they will come.” He builds a baseball diamond and, well, the movie plot is complicated, but ‘they’ do come and play ball!
What do you want to create in your life, to build? In the book Write It Down, Make It Happen, Henriette Anne Klauser gives real life examples of people who made it a practice to continually write down what they wanted to manifest in their lives, and how this practice contributed to the occurrence of wonderful things.
Of course there’s more to it than that. You have to not only write down your intentions and desires, but work to make them happen.
Everyone knows that I promote the practice of meditation. There are many reasons for this. One of these is that it clears the mind and body and allows the space for new things to unfold in your life. And writing is powerful as well. Writing is a way to clarify and make concrete your dreams and wishes.
Since I am a writer, I use words in many ways: to inform, to entertain, to explore, to examine, to understand, to communicate, to create art. I also make it a habit of writing down how I would like things to unfold. Then I take all the actions I can.
Try keeping a notebook, and make it a regular habit to write down not only your thoughts and feelings, but also your desires. Write what you would like to happen, as if it were already happening now. Keep doing it, take action, and see what unfolds.
“Life is a narrative that you have a hand in writing.”—Henriette Anne Klauser
