What do you believe? Do you believe you can accomplish what you set out to do and see the results of your actions?
Sometimes it’s difficult to believe we can make a difference.
There are three types of belief: core beliefs, intermediate beliefs, and automatic thoughts.
Each is connected to the others. But it’s our core beliefs that lead the way. They reside at the deepest level of our thinking. These core beliefs shape your reality.
Core beliefs are often established in childhood and can affect us for the rest of our lives.
What did you learn as a child? Did you learn that you were important? Did you learn that you could succeed at what you wanted to do? Did you learn that you could take action on your own inner guidance?
Many of us hold limiting beliefs about our abilities.
Some core beliefs might include:
“I’m not smart enough.”
“I don’t deserve to be successful.”
“I doubt I can do this.”
What doubts are getting in your way? Write down a few of your core beliefs, then reframe them.
It may seem like we’re lying to ourselves if we try to say something positive about ourselves.
To make it easier, use “I can choose to…”
“I can choose to believe I’m capable.”
“I can choose to believe I know what to do.”
“I can choose to believe my work will make a difference in the world.”
Try writing down one or two phrases that resonate with you, and keep them where you can see them.
The thing you always believe in happens; and belief in a thing makes it happen. –Frank Lloyd Wright
