Everything must change; nothing stays the same.
All things pass away, but new things are constantly being born. Life goes on in a continual flow. Einstein said that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, and we are energy beings. There are no true endings, only changes of form.
Whether you feel that your life situation will never change or hope it won’t change because you are attached to how things are now, the answer is the same.
Acceptance.
Acceptance can help us loosen attachment to the way things are and lessen fear of loss, as well as help us remember that change is the nature of life and that whatever is happening now is temporary. Acceptance is the doorway to transformation. We are here to transform ourselves, to bring more light into our lives and into the world around us.
How do we foster acceptance? Develop witness consciousness. By practicing mindfulness, we become a witness to our thoughts and emotions rather than being ‘caught up’ in them.
Mindfulness can help you gain a new perspective and a new view and allows you to relate with more openness to experiences that may be causing you to suffer–whether that means fearing that you will lose something you value or wishing for things to be different.
Mindfulness brings about self-acceptance and self-understanding. Mindfulness is about awareness and acceptance first. Transformation will follow.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, I change.”
—Carl Rogers
