Writing from the Soul: From Insight to Action

Words have the power to help us move forward or hold us back.

Spiritual teachings have special words that are used to calm and clarify the mind, bringing it to a deeper dimension.

Most people have a constant stream of thoughts. But as Einstein is supposed to have said: “I think 99 times and find nothing. When I stop thinking and swim in silence, the truth comes to me.”

When we practice mindfulness, we gain clarity, and the thoughts that arise can then bring insights and new information.

Mindful writing, also known as expressive writing, involves expressing our deepest thoughts and feelings. Putting pen to paper, we can attend to the narrative of our experiences. We gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our relationship to our world.

Research shows that by writing and reflecting on our stories, we can gain insights into how we might deal with obstacles to emotional well-being.

By writing about not only facts but feelings, and not only what happened but how you felt about it, you can assemble a coherent story–leading to a sense of relief, expanding your perspective, and gaining insights into your life circumstances.

With mindful writing, we can free ourselves from our inner critics and find greater agency.

Then we can take the next step on our journey with confidence, moving from intention to action.
