Awareness, Creativity, Transformation

At the bottom of every page on this site are the words: “Awareness, Creativity, Transformation.”

How are these three concepts interrelated? And how can they influence our daily lives and long-term well-being?

Let’s start with mindfulness, a word that is frequently used to mean paying attention, in an open and relaxed way, to our daily thoughts and actions, cultivating the ability to pause before reacting when we become pulled into a negative emotion, and perhaps having a daily meditation practice.

But what about awareness?

In a way, awareness is the outcome of mindfulness. It gives us a wider view of our life and the world around us. Awareness helps us make decisions, take the right actions, and understand what is going on inside us with greater wisdom and compassion.

Creativity is what we are doing on a moment-to-moment basis. Each day, we create our identities, our schedules and rhythms, and the way we choose to show up in the world. Of course, it also means what kind of tangible, material objects we make. What kind of life are you creating? What do you want to manifest? What do you want to create?

Transformation happens when we become more aware and use our creativity. Life is a process of transformation. Change is taking place every moment. But with awareness and creativity, we can steer what kind of transformation takes place.

We can transform negative emotions into positive ones, transform our intentions, and transform the path we walk. We can transform our bodies, minds, and spirits, and create a life shaped by awareness and creativity.

During the Renaissance, philosophers spoke of a creative spirit. They said that each person comes into the world to create their own life and to contribute to the continual creation of our world. We participate in this creation with our words, thoughts, and deeds. Creating something meaningful is where we find our greatest sense of fulfillment.

However, every time we begin to create, obstacles inevitably arise — whether they are our own doubts and fears or external factors such as a lack of time, money, or resources. How we think matters. If we get discouraged and dwell on the difficulties we encounter, we end up frustrated. Words have power. Through the way we speak and write, we can help ourselves remain focused on the outcome and keep taking one step after another.
